Solar NYC: New PanelClaw Photovoltaic Mount Perfect for Brooklyn’s Flat Roofs

Maybe just a renewable energy wonk like me would get excited about something like a mounting bracket… But sometimes a relatively minor invention — like the PanelClaw photovoltaic mount — is all it takes to kick off a major movement.

Being an advocate for solar energy in NYC and having poked around the PV scene a little bit, I know that flat roof PV arrays are not ideal. But nevertheless, a little creativity and the invention of better flat roof mounts could have a ripple effect on the use of photovoltaics in Brooklyn, NYC, and other cities with flat roof buildings.
It may not make the lead story in tomorrow’s NYT, but if it helps proliferate the use of PV in NYC, it will be a big story.
