CSA
What is a CSA?
CSA means community supported agriculture.
People join a CSA by paying annual or semi-annual dues, and in return they get a share of produce (fruits, veggies, and sometimes meats and dairy products) from a local farm participating in that CSA. Typically there is an established place where members go each week to pick up their share of that week’s produce (using their re-usable canvas bag of course!).
Food is almost always organic, locally grown, and seasonal sustainable food.
Why Would I Want to Join a CSA?
Joining a CSA is one of the easiest, cheapest, and best ways to support sustainable food and agriculture and to Eat Well Brooklyn!
How Do I Join a CSA?
Find your nearest CSA — and their contact info — at the listing provided by NY-based sustainable food org Just Food:
Once you find your closest CSA, contact them and they will instruct you on how to become a member of the CSA, when to pick up your produce, which veggies are available in that season, where the produce comes from, and more.
