Presidential Debate Screenings In NYC: Galapagos, Solar 1, A Million More
October 15th, 2008 by EthanTonight! The 3rd and — mercifully — the final Presidential Debate of 2008!
Here are a couple of choice places to watch, Galapagos Art Space and Solar 1.
Galapagos:
Galapagos Art Space presents the final Presidential Debate projected live on our 12′X12′ screen.
With only 21 days left until November 4th, this is the pivotal debate.
Buy a $5 ticket here and entry is guaranteed before 8pm,
- and your first drink is Free!
Also, a note from our friend Chris Neidl @ S1:
If any of you are still looking for a fun setting in which to watch the final presidential debate tonight between candidates Obama and McCain, please join me and the rest of the Solar One gang for an outdoor screening at our East River location tonight at 9pm.
Due to the nice, unseasonably warm weather we are having (www.weather.com forecast: low 60s, clear skies, not too windy), we’ve decided to drag out a 30 ft x 30 ft inflatable screen and project the debate live at 9pm on our blacktop, which can comfortably accommodate 500-700 people.
The historic debates between Lincoln and Douglas in 1858 took place at county fairs before large outdoor audience. We decided it would be fun to give our own satellite-generated twist to this format and invite you all down to (respectfully) cheer on your candidate with fellow New Yorkers. There will be chairs and refreshments.
All are welcome, no matter which candidate they support!
For those who haven’t been to Solar One, we are located right between the East River and the elevated FDR Drive at 23rd St, across the street from Peter Cooper Village. Here is a map with directions to our site.
I hope that some of you can come!!!

Btw, there’s some pretty nasty smears out there against Barack Obama and other Democrats. Check out Truth Fights Back and take a moment to write a letter-to-the-editor combating these absurd lies.
