M. Fine Lumber: Free Reclaimed Wood Scraps

My name is Joe and I work at M. Fine Lumber Co. in Brooklyn. I just wanted to inform you that we have free lumber scraps if anyone is interested its all from torn down NYC buildings. We are in the process of downsizing and really don’t want to trash it or chip it up. That wouldn’t be the green thing to do. The company has been around for 75 years and has salvaged more then 1,000,000 board feet off lumber. Maybe you can help us out. Call me M-F 7-5 at 718-381-5200.

UPDATE:

Several people have posted comments asking for wood supplies. If you have any questions or requests, please contact Joe at M. Fine Lumber by phone or on the web here:

Thanks so much for this tip. Everyone was super nice when I went and picked up a wonderful load of free wood this morning (with my four-year-old twins in town, no less). Their first preference would be to load a forklift-full directly into your vehicle; my van was too small for that, so an employee helped me load in by hand. Bring work gloves … a lot of the wood is rough cut or splintery, and/or has rusty old nails still in it.

Any chance i could bring a uhaul, fill it up and take it to Florida? I would need 4800 sq. ft.

I have a studio in an 1840s wharehouse, need to do a small buildout, 10′x10′ raised floor. Is there any chance I could get some struts and flooring?

  6. Pax Says:

Is there any of this left? I’m just looking for a few planks that are heavy on the ‘character’ and preferably fairly wide (12″+?) to make some coat racks out of…
