Ban The Bag
We use an ASTRONOMICAL number of plastic bags. Let’s stop using plastic convenience bags and instead use re-usable bags made from sustainable or recycled materials.
Actions You Can Take
- Use re-usable bags when you go shopping
- Write to your elected officials
- Go to your local supermarket and ask them to promote re-usable bags
- Write to — or help — community organizations to encourage them to support a ban on plastic bags.
Current Legislation in NYC and NYS
- NY State Assemblyman Bill Colton - An act to amend the general business law, in relation to requiring retail businesses to restrict the use of non-compostable plastic bags
