Emerging Green Builders Take On DUMBO’s Empire Stores Tobacco Warehouse
July 17th, 2008 by Ethan
The NY chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has a great initiative called Emerging Green Builders to “engage students and young professionals in the green building movement.”
One of the programs of EGB is a design contest called the EGBNY Natural Talent Design Competition.
This year’s competition:
…focuses on the new LEED for Schools rating system, challenging entrants to design a Platinum rated Arts Center & Middle School for grades 6-9. The design challenge included the revitalization of the historic Empire Stores Tobacco Warehouse and the adjacent Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, located on the waterfront in Brooklyn, NY’s DUMBO neighborhood.
The 2008 winning entries will be on display at the awards ceremony later this month.
