Everyone knows the expression: “The kids are alright.” Well in this case, the kids are right. Students at P.S. 321 in Park Slope — the future of Brooklyn — are setting a good example for all of us by not only actively being green, but by raising money to help green causes. We not only need a healthy planet today, but we need to preserve our planet for future generations of Brooklynites as well.
NY1 has the story. Watch the video (real media stream).
NY1:
âWe have a whole âgo greenâ initiative at our school where we are trying to help educate our children about the importance of keeping our earth healthy,â said P.S. 321 principal Liz Phillips.
âIt underscores the value of the school which is it’s really strong commitment to learning as well as the community in general and making the world a better place,â said P.S. 321 parent Andy Bachman.
âI’ve learned a lot about how you can really build social friendships while you walk and how you can exercise and everything, so I think it’s really fun,â said fifth grader William Wells.

I noticed someone letting helium balloons loose into the air right next to the “PS 321 Goes Green” sign–this is not a very green thing to do. Loose balloons usually end up in the ocean as trash, sometimes getting tangled up with or injested by ocean creatures. Unfortunately it’s not really a symbol of freedom but of environmental damage.
Thanks,
